Somewhere out there is a person who sat at their kitchen counter with a label maker, labeling remotes for a stranger they were never going to meet. Garage. Fan. The one for the fireplace that nobody can ever find. Every key. Every remote. On the counter. Labeled. And then a note — welcome to the neighborhood, here are the little secrets, and a whole pile of well wishes at the end for good measure. I need you to understand that nobody made them do this. Here's what I love about a note like that. You're writing to somebody who doesn't exist yet. A total stranger who's going to be standing in your kitchen someday opening drawers, wondering what the third switch does. You will never meet them. And you get to be kind to them anyway. So tell them the good stuff. Which stair creaks. The window that sticks when it rains. Where the light lands in the kitchen in October. The tree out front, and why you planted it. The drawer that's been broken since 2019 and you have simply made peace with it. The neighbor who is absolutely going to show up with zucchini. (I handle the utilities, the trash day and the mailbox at closing. Don't waste the label maker on trash day.) They'll find that note in a drawer in 8 years and keep it. People keep those. So — to whoever you are, with your label maker: you're a legend, and my buyers were thrilled. Have you ever left something behind for the people who bought your house? ⭐ Kelsey Earl | 801-419-8917 | [email protected] | Keller Williams South Valley | Your lifelong friend in real estate.
