Sometimes not buying is the right answer. Here's what I didn't say on camera. The expensive part usually isn't the payment. It's getting back out. Selling costs money, so a short hold is the most expensive version of buying a house — and what I've seen is that people underestimate how long they need to stay, not how high the payment is. Renting isn't throwing money away either. You're buying flexibility, and flexibility is worth a lot when you don't know where you'll be in 3 years. You'll notice I didn't predict anything. Nobody knows where rates or prices go next, and anyone who tells you they do is selling you something. And if you do decide to buy, the question to bring a lender isn't "what can I qualify for." It's "what payment still leaves money in my account." #utahrealestate #firsttimehomebuyer #shouldibuyahouse #homebuyingtips #utahrealtor Kelsey Earl, journalist turned Realtor, born and raised in Utah, Salt Lake to St. George, 801-419-8917, [email protected], Your lifelong friend in real estate 🌟
