Where are the Christmas lights in Herriman?
Herriman's Christmas lights are spread across decorated homes and businesses on the city's Tour de Cheer map, plus the city celebration at City Hall and J. Lynn Crane Park. Night of Lights is scheduled for November 30, 2026. The city posts the Tour de Cheer map once registration closes, usually in early December, so the current list is not up yet.
Herriman’s Christmas lights are mostly on people’s houses, and the city publishes a map of them. The program is called Tour de Cheer, and the city’s own holiday events center on City Hall and J. Lynn Crane Park on Herriman Main Street.
There is no single drive-through light park in Herriman. What the city has instead is a registered list of decorated homes and storefronts, a kickoff celebration, and an outdoor skating ribbon. Here is where each one is, when it happens, and what has and has not been announced for 2026.
The Herriman Christmas lights map: Tour de Cheer
Tour de Cheer is Herriman City’s holiday decorating program. Residents and businesses register, decorate their homes and storefronts, and get added to an official list and map so families can plan their own driving route. The public votes for favorites, and winners get prizes and recognition through the city’s channels (herriman.gov Tour de Cheer page, checked October 2026).
Registration is free and open to anyone in the city. The 2026 registration form is already on the Tour de Cheer page.
What is not up yet is the 2026 map. As of October 2026, the page still shows the 2025 tour map and the 2025 list of participating homes and businesses. The city builds the map from registrations and posts it after registration closes, which in 2025 was in early December. If you are searching for the Herriman Christmas lights map in November, you are a few weeks early; check back in December.
A practical note on using it: the list is self-selected. It shows homes whose owners signed up, not every decorated street. A house that did not register will not be on it however bright it is, so treat the map as a starting route rather than a complete inventory.
Night of Lights at City Hall
Night of Lights is Herriman’s annual kickoff to the holiday season. The 2026 event is on the city calendar for Monday, November 30, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at J. Lynn Crane Park and Plaza, 5373 W Herriman Main Street (herriman.gov calendar, checked October 2026). The city’s event page lists Santa, music, games and skating, and says more details are still to come.
The 2025 event was held on December 1 at City Hall and Crane Plaza and included visits with Santa, live entertainment, a drone show, food trucks, a kids’ craft area and letters to Santa (herriman.gov Herriman for the Holidays page, checked October 2026). The city has not said whether the 2026 lineup will match, so do not plan around the drone show until the city confirms it.
Night of Lights is outdoors in late November in Herriman, which means it is cold once the sun goes down. Dress for the evening, not the afternoon. What winter is like in Herriman is honest about how early it gets cold on the west side of the valley.
The Ice Ribbon at Crane Plaza
The Ice Ribbon is Herriman’s outdoor skating loop at Crane Plaza, next to City Hall. It is one of the few things in the south valley that turns a light display into an evening.
The 2025 to 2026 season ran December 1 through February 28, closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, with reduced hours on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Admission was per person, per session: $10 for adults and $8 for children ages 3 to 14 with their own skates, less without, and free for toddlers (herriman.gov Ice Ribbon page, checked October 2026). The city says 2026 to 2027 reservations are expected to open in early November 2026, and sessions are booked in advance, so popular December evenings fill.
Displays worth the drive
Beyond the city list, a few Herriman homes go well past a roofline of lights. Axios Salt Lake’s annual Christmas lights guide has named the choreographed show at Herriman’s Triple Crown Christmas among the standouts in the valley (Axios Salt Lake, December 2024). Displays like that are private homes run by their owners, so they change year to year. Check that a display is running before you load the car.
For a wider search, KSL runs a statewide Christmas lights and holiday events map each season. The 2025 map went live on December 6, 2025, and homeowners submit their own displays to it through December (KSL, via Deseret News, December 2025). It is the best single place to find music-synced displays around the south valley, including ones that never register with Herriman’s program.
Nearby: South Jordan’s Light the Night
The closest city-run lighting outside Herriman is South Jordan’s Light the Night on Towne Center Drive. In 2025 it was on Friday, December 5, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the lighting of Towne Center, a winter market and a gingerbread house contest, and Santa photo visits on Towne Center Drive that night and on several later dates in December. Storefronts along Towne Center Drive also ran candy window displays from November 27, 2025 through January 1, 2026 (South Jordan City, checked October 2026). South Jordan had not posted 2026 dates when this was written.

Decorating your own Herriman house: the HOA question
If you are buying in Herriman and you are the kind of household that decorates, read the association rules before you plan the display. Holiday lights, and when they go up and come down, are one of the design rules Herriman associations commonly cover. Whether a Herriman home has an HOA explains how to get and read those documents.
Utah law limits how far an HOA can go. Under the Community Association Act, an association’s rules may not take away a lot owner’s right to display a religious or holiday sign, symbol or decoration inside the home, or on the lot, the home’s exterior or the front yard, unless the association owns those areas or is responsible for maintaining them. The association can still adopt reasonable time, place and manner restrictions on outdoor displays visible from outside the lot (Utah Code 57-8a-218, as amended by SB 152 in 2022, checked October 2026). In plain terms, an HOA can usually tell you when the lights come down, but generally not that you cannot have them at all. Townhome communities, where the association often maintains the exterior, are where that exception most often applies.
The wind problem
The other Herriman-specific issue is wind. Inflatables, light-up yard figures and anything staked into frozen ground take a beating on the west side and the bench, and a strong canyon wind can flatten a display overnight. Anchor everything, use clips rather than nails on the roofline, and take inflatables down on a forecast windy night. Is Herriman windy explains which parts of the city get it worst.
When the season is over, the Wasatch Front Waste and Recycling District collects Christmas trees at the curb through January on your regular pickup day and turns them into woodchips for parks and trails (Wasatch Front Waste and Recycling District services flyer, checked October 2026). Strip the lights and stand off first.
How to plan a Herriman lights evening
The order that works:
- Check the Herriman city calendar in mid-November for Night of Lights details and the Ice Ribbon schedule.
- Book skating early if you want a December weekend.
- Pull up the Tour de Cheer map once it posts in December and build a route from it.
- Add a few displays from the KSL map for the music-synced houses.
- Go on a weeknight. Residential streets do not handle a line of cars well, and the people who live there will thank you.
I tell clients who close in the fall that the first December is when Herriman starts to feel like home. Night of Lights is where a lot of newcomers meet their neighbors for the first time. I am Kelsey Earl, a Realtor with Keller Williams South Valley, and if you are weighing a move to this end of the valley, start with the relocation guide. For the rest of the year, what there is to do in Herriman picks up where the holidays leave off.
Note: The HOA section summarizes Utah statute as of October 2026 and is not legal advice. Your association’s recorded documents and current Utah law govern any specific property.
