Think about how strange that is. Walk into a bank and ask for thirty years of fixed-rate money to buy almost anything else and they’ll laugh at you. Ask for it to buy a house — a thing you then get to live inside while you pay it off — and there’s a whole industry built to say yes. That’s the part of real estate I’d actually defend. Not the returns. Nobody can promise you those, including me, and anyone who puts a number on them is guessing. The terms are the unusual thing. So yes — buy something that works for your life and that you’re comfortable in. That comes first and it isn’t negotiable. But it’s also an asset, and it’s allowed to be both. Maybe you stay. Maybe in a few years it becomes the thing that makes the next move possible. You don’t have to know yet. I’m a Realtor, not a lender and not a financial advisor. Anything about what a property might be worth later is a question for people who do that for a living. What’s your real estate strategy?
