A code doesn’t have to be stolen. It just has to be read once. Somebody looks at it, and now it’s theirs, and there is no moment where you find out. A key is an object. If it’s gone, it’s gone, and you know the same day. That’s why I prefer a key. Not because nothing can go wrong with one — because when something does, you find out about it. And if you’re listing your home: ask what kind of lockbox is going on your door and why. That’s a completely fair question and you’re allowed to ask it.
