What flights leave from St. George airport?

Quick answer

As of October 2026, flights leave St. George Regional Airport nonstop for Salt Lake City, Denver, Phoenix, Dallas/Fort Worth and Los Angeles, plus a seasonal flight to Chicago O'Hare. SkyWest operates all of them for Delta, United and American. Every route goes to an airline hub, so most trips are one connection. Las Vegas is still better for nonstops and international travel.

Flights from St. George Regional Airport go nonstop to six places as of October 2026: Salt Lake City, Denver, Phoenix, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles and, seasonally, Chicago.

All of them are operated by SkyWest Airlines, which is headquartered in St. George, flying under the United, Delta and American brands (St. George News, July 16, 2026). That one fact explains most of what the airport can and cannot do for you.

Which airline flies where

DenverUnitedUnited hub
Los Angeles (LAX)UnitedDaily service returned September 26, 2024
Chicago O’HareUnitedSeasonal, began May 2026

Dallas/Fort WorthAmericanAmerican hub

Airline assignments are from the airport’s own FAQ, which lists American for Phoenix and Dallas/Fort Worth, United for Denver and Los Angeles, and Delta for Salt Lake City (City of St. George, SGU Frequent Questions, checked October 2026). The Los Angeles flight ran from 2017 to 2020, paused during the pandemic, and returned as a daily United Express round trip on September 26, 2024 (ABC4). The seasonal Chicago O’Hare flight was announced in October 2025 to start in May 2026 (St. George News, October 31, 2025).

Seasonal routes and schedules change. Check the airline’s own schedule for your dates rather than trusting any list, including this one.

What “every route goes to a hub” means for you

Every nonstop from St. George lands at a major airline hub. That is by design. SGU is a feeder airport: you fly a regional jet to Salt Lake City, Denver, Phoenix, Dallas, Los Angeles or Chicago, then connect to almost anywhere.

So the honest answer to “can I fly from St. George to Atlanta, Boston or Seattle” is yes, with one connection. When the airport announced Chicago, officials pitched it as a connection to the East Coast and to international flights out of O’Hare, and pitched Los Angeles as a connection to Asia and Hawaii (St. George News, October 31, 2025).

What SGU does not have is a nonstop to a leisure destination. No direct Hawaii, no Florida, no Mexico. Those trips go through a hub or through Las Vegas.

The routes that came and went

The route map has not only grown. Allegiant flew St. George to Phoenix-Mesa starting in November 2018 and did not resume after the airport reopened in 2019, with local officials citing competition from American on the Phoenix route (St. George News, October 16, 2019). That 2019 closure was a months-long runway rebuild after water got into the soil beneath the pavement (One Mile at a Time, August 31, 2018).

Avelo announced a St. George to Burbank route in 2021 and canceled it on August 26, 2021, before a single flight operated (The Points Guy).

The pattern is worth knowing. Low-cost carriers have tried St. George and left. The routes that last are the SkyWest hub flights. I would not buy a house on the expectation that a budget airline will show up.

How busy the airport is getting

Busier every year. The airport handled 431,607 revenue passengers in 2025, up roughly 35 percent from 2024, and the first half of 2026 ran well ahead of the same period in 2025 (St. George News, July 16, 2026). In January 2026 the mayor said the airport was on track to pass 500,000 passengers this year (St. George News, January 20, 2026).

The building has not caught up. The terminal has three gates, and a roughly $100 million plan would take it to seven and add security lanes, baggage claim, ticketing and restaurant space. The city asked the Legislature for $20 million and received $10 million, and the airport manager has said the construction timeline is uncertain (St. George News, July 16, 2026).

A control tower is also under construction. The airport opened in 2011 without one, and air traffic control has been handled remotely by the FAA from Los Angeles. The 70-foot tower was topped off in January 2026, with completion and FAA certification expected in 2027 (St. George News, January 20, 2026).

For now, expect a small, crowded terminal at peak times. It is still far easier than a big airport.

Parking and rental cars

There is one lot. The city’s parking page lists $10 per day effective July 1, 2026, with the first half hour free and a $75 charge for a lost ticket. Stays over 30 days need a long-term parking form (City of St. George, SGU Parking, checked October 2026). Parts of the city site still show the older $8 rate, so expect $10. The curb is for loading and unloading only, and unattended cars are towed.

Rental cars on site are Avis/Budget, Enterprise and Hertz, plus an automated online option called Vroom.me (City of St. George, Rental Cars, checked October 2026). Counter hours differ, and Hertz keeps shorter hours on Sunday. If your flight lands late, confirm the counter will still be open.

Where the airport sits relative to neighborhoods

SGU is at 4550 S Airport Parkway, on the bluff southeast of the city. Leaving the airport, you take Airport Parkway to Highway 7, the Southern Parkway, then head southwest to I-15 for St. George or north toward Zion (City of St. George, Getting To and From).

That puts the southeast side of St. George closest, including Desert Color and Little Valley. Washington City and Hurricane can use the Southern Parkway too. Ivins, Santa Clara and the west side are on the far side of town, though nothing in the county is truly far from it.

For a frequent flyer, that is a legitimate tiebreaker between two neighborhoods. For someone who flies twice a year, it should not decide anything.

When Las Vegas or Salt Lake City is the better choice

Choose SGU whenChoose Las Vegas when
One connection through a hub is fineYou want a nonstop to a leisure or coastal city
You fly Delta, United or AmericanYou want a low-cost carrier or more fare competition
You value a short drive and easy parkingYou are flying internationally from the West
The trip is short and time mattersSchedules from SGU do not fit your dates

Harry Reid International in Las Vegas is the default big airport for much of Washington County, and how far is St. George from Las Vegas airport covers that drive. Salt Lake City International is Delta’s hub. From St. George you usually reach it by the SGU flight rather than by car, since the drive is long.

My rule of thumb, and what I tell clients who travel for work: price the SGU itinerary first, then compare it to Las Vegas once you count gas, parking and the drive at both ends. For short trips SGU often wins on total cost and fatigue. For a family of five going to Hawaii, Las Vegas usually does.

The short version

As of October 2026, SGU flies nonstop to Salt Lake City, Denver, Phoenix, Dallas/Fort Worth and Los Angeles, plus seasonal Chicago, all on SkyWest for Delta, United and American. Parking is $10 a day. Las Vegas remains the airport for nonstops, budget fares and international travel.
